Criminal Injuries Compensation
If you are a victim of a crime and you have sustained physical injuries as a result, you may be entitled to compensation.
The problem with bringing a private claim against the offender is that they may not have the ability to pay any compensation awarded by a court, or your legal costs.
Harland & Co will advise you about your eligibility for compensation through a statutory process which exists to compensate victims of crime. In appropriate cases, we will act on a no-win no-fee basis.
Whilst levels of compensation will vary from case to case, we have listed below some of the guideline compensation amounts that routinely are awarded for certain kinds of injury.
- Minor scarring to face £1,500
- Fractured jaw - £3,300 to £5,500
- Broken nose - £1,000 to £2,000
- Damage to teeth - £2,000
- Broken arm - £3,000 to £5,000
Damages may even be awarded where at least three minor injuries have been sustained, such as:-
- Grazing, cuts, lacerations
- Severe and widespread bruising
- Black eye
- Bloody nose
- Hair pulled from scalp
- Loss of finger nail
